ABOUT US

We are a 100% Spanish shoe brand founded in 2014. While that may seem young, we have a long history in the footwear manufacturing industry. In 1940 the first factory was founded, beginning a family tradition in the footwear manufacturing sector that would be passed down from generation to generation. It was by the third generation that the family began specialising in manufacturing cork sandals.

Now, on the brink of 80 years from the beginning of the tradition the fourth generation begins a new stage of the family business with the launch and development of Genuins, 100% Spanish Footwear.

At Genuins we go beyond traditional ideas, we are continually investigating new paths in design as well as new materials to create our collections. In addition to craftsmanship, of utmost importance to us is innovation, in terms of both design and manufacture.

Key to this is our research and development team who are continually looking for new environmentally sound ways to bring product to market. We are committed to reducing the impact on the earth. Our shoes are made only with biodegradable water based adhesives and we consistently aiming to reduce our impact further. As a small factory we take our social responsibility very seriously.

SUSTAINABILE MATERIALS

As part of our environmental action plan, we have been exclusively working with sustainable materials for years.
100% Spanish materials and suppliers for a dream product made entirely in Spain.

PET FELT

In the oceans we can find tons of plastic bottles, which, if collected and recycled, provide us with an extremely useful material of great value and quality for our shoes.

NATURAL CORK & RUBBER

We use cork extracted from cork oaks from controlled Spanish meadows and rubber obtained by natural and responsible means. We do not waste any of these materials, all scraps are recycled and used.

LEATHER

We only work with suppliers that belong to the Leather Working Group (LGW) which have the gold status. This guarantees compliance with good practices when it comes to animal protection.

80% ANIMAL FREE

80% of our materials are animal-free, approved by the PETA seal. We are constantly researching on how to be more sustainable, and our goal is to increase the ratio of vegan materials in our products.

RECYCLED POLYESTER

We opt for recycled polyester, as it generates 1/3 less cO2 emissions than conventionally produced polyester.

CHROMIUM & SOLVENT FREE

Our shoes are free of hazardous chemicals and our glues are water-based, solvent-free. We also work with suppliers who meet the conditions of the MRSL (Manufacturing Restricted Substances List).

One of the cornerstones of our environmental action plan is to take care of every detail of the manufacturing process.

At GENUINS, we have reduced the traceability of our footwear by using local suppliers, calculating the shortest transport routes. Our logistics warehouse in Spain, which is connected to its strategic location close to ports, airports and main Sustainable roads, is our base.

The installation of solar panels in our production plant has ensured that 68% of the energy used to manufacture Genuins is now renewable. We've even installed charging points in our car parks for a future fleet of electric cars.

Investing in renewable energy is an additional steptowards sustainability, a prerequisite for offsetting our environmental impact, which is increasingly demanded by customers and marketplaces. We will continue in our efforts to make our manufacturing as gentle on the earth as possible.
